Aditya PrakashBackground and Training in Vocal

Aditya is a young and upcoming vocalist trained in South Indian Classical (Carnatic) music. Since the age of 8, Aditya has been learning from reputable gurus in the USA and India. Aditya began training under Debur Srivathsa, Rose Muralikrishnan and continued under Sugandha Kalamegham. Currently, he is learning under Vidwan Sri PS Narayanaswami and Vidwan Sri Palai CK Ramachandran in India. Aditya spends his summers in India training with his gurus, and the rest of the year cultivating his music on his own.

Training in Mridangam (South Indian Percussion)

Aditya has also been learning the Mridangam since the age of 8 and has performed concerts in Mridangam as well. He learns under one of today’s top Mridangam artists, Neyveli Narayanan.

Aditya has performed mridangam in a “jugalbandhi “ (collaboration with North Indian Music) along with Sitar Maestro Ustaad Shujaat Khan. Aditya has also accompanied Sikkil Gurucharan, a leading Carnatic vocalist in today’s South Indian music field. Although focusing on vocal performance, Aditya continues to perform in mridangam as well.

Performance Experience (Vocal)

Aditya has had the rare privilege of touring, performing and working with the legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar. Since the age of 16 Aditya has been featured in Ravi Shankar’s “Festival of India III” ensemble as lead vocalist, touring the USA and Canada.

Aditya has also worked and performed with Anoushka Shankar as lead vocalist in her album live tours in Europe, USA and Canada. In these tours, Aditya performed with guest virtuoso artists Karsh Kale, and Salim Merchant.

Aditya has been performing solo Carnatic Vocal Concerts since the age of 12. He has performed solo shows all around the USA, Canada, Europe and India. He has performed at some of the most prominent venues throughout the world.
